What Is Americanism? In the American Legion Americanism is "service"; it is making one's community a better place in which to live; and it is passing on a heritage that is chiseled into the very foundation of the organization. It is an unfailing love of country, a strong loyalty to its institutions and ideals, an individual allegiance to its Flag, righteous freedom, religion without bigotry and charity without bias or race hatred.
